I'm very excited to be able to share this photograph with you! So excited in fact that I probably should hold off until I've processed all the photos from this shoot and pick the best I cant wait though
Recently I accompanied my wife on a business trip to Kauai, where we stayed in the town of Kapa'a by the ocean. The night before, I checked my Sky Guide app to see if the Milky Way would be visible while we were there. It was, but would only be visible early in the morning. I set an alarm to wake up early, but was so anxious to get out there, I didnt need it. I walked out to the beach around 3am, set up in the dark, and began shooting.
Interesting to note, the glow of the rising sun was visible on the horizon, even though true sunrise was hours away.
To my delight, what I thought was a boat on the horizon turned out to be Venus rising. It was so bright, its light actually reflected off the water.
Camera settings: Sony A7riii, 16-35mm lens at 16mm, ISO 2500, 25s exposure.
The post processing in Photoshop is very minimal all things considered. Dehaze, increase in contrast, saturation boost, removal of a satellite trail, optical correction for the lens, increase in brightness using exposure and curves adjustment.
I'll post a series of photos from this shoot over the next few weeks. I took a series of shoreline photos to purposefully composite into the scene.
This is available as an instant download printable image through my Etsy Store: www.etsy.com/listing/168077783…
Purchased images do not contain my watermark signature and are full size 36x24 inch at 300dpi (high) resolution
