Chibaya
The other side of the American Dream.
.
The shadow cast by the light from the Shining City on the Hill.
.
The forgotten, the disenfranchised, the mentally ill.
.
We talk about “flyover states” while in every city there are “drive by communities;” pockets of life we pretend don’t exist or populated by people “not like us.”
.
Loneliness, uncertainty, hunger, the possibility that our lives may be endangered any moment…
For many of us these are experiences that occasionally visit us in times of trouble. For others, these are constants that occasionally move away for a short time but are always circling, just beyond the light of the fire.
